“Home is where you meet yourself. So, this is a very special place,” says beloved Indian actor-comedian Sunil Grover as he opens the door of his new apartment. Owning an apartment in Mumbai after the initial years of struggle that every artist goes through is quite a satisfying feeling. And remembering that is important. “I started with one room kitchen apartment, which was a rented apartment. I was equally happy. But then after two years, maybe three years, I added one bedroom and next year one more bedroom. Doesn't matter how many bedrooms or how much carpet-area you have… you should be happy. I was equally happy when I was living ina rented apartment and I'm happy to have a home in Mumbai.”
The happiness in the couple’s hearts has poured over onto their living space – a spacious double-height room with floor-to-ceiling, expansive windows that let sunlight stream in and give a warm, magical touch. The entrance wall features a larger-than-life floral mural, complemented by a wooden dining table. The space is enveloped in subtle hues and rich wood accents.
Designed by Sunil’s wife Aarti – an interior designer – the home is a true reflection of the couple's simplicity and charm. “Cross ventilation was an important factor in choosing this house. We needed a lot of sunlight and natural ventilation,” says Aarti. Truly enough, abundant natural light and cross ventilation lend a pleasing, vibrant ambience to the home.
