Ahmedabad-based andblack Design Studio, established in 2011, by architects Jwalant Mahadevwala and Kanika Agarwal explores the possibility of organic and user-friendly solutions through design. Both the founders holding postgraduate degrees from the Architectural Association, London, work together with a unique philosophy – combining Jwalant's dive into the generative process and Kanika's claim on sustainability. Here's an overview of their work straddling across varied genres of design: architecture, interiors, furniture, art, and installations.

Design – the word means different things to different people. Designers themselves, in fact, are broken up into segments – either by choice or for convenience, or simply for logistical reasons. A creative mind knows no bounds – or rather, should know no bounds. And that is exactly what we see in the work of this studio.

Smart, unassuming, and talented – are the words that best fit Jwalant, an architect by training; who has used his formal education merely as a stepping stone into a vast - unknown and unseen - world of creative explorations. He knows he is creative, and he knows his mettle. The willingness, the eagerness, the passion to do everything he does is undermined by his quiet demeanor.
