Prof. Charanjit Singh Shah is a prominent figure in modern Indian architecture, renowned for his sustainable designs that span over five decades. The founding principal of Creative Group, his work reflects a deep respect for the environment, cultural landscapes, and responsible design principles. Blending modern innovations with local heritage, his projects range from airports to public infrastructure and educational campuses. Ar. Gurpreet Singh Shah after finishing his M. Arch in Urban Design from Columbia University decided to join Creative Group, later adding his own insights; while never losing sight of the practice’s core ideology of sustainable design and infrastructure. His visionary approach has led the firm to win several national and international design competitions. Together, they lead the Creative Group team to shape cities and communities for the future, balancing modern technology with cultural preservation.

Prof. Charanjit Singh Shah has crafted a unique space for himself in Indian architecture. His design approach integrates sustainable practices, such as renewable energy, efficient lighting, and water conservation systems, into every project. His designs are also sensitive to the cultural context, blending local heritage with modern solutions. With a focus on enabling architecture and nature to coexist harmoniously, Prof. Shah believes that architecture should serve both the community and the environment.

Aiming to create places that seamlessly integrate into their surroundings, promoting both sustainability and cultural preservation, he emphasizes the importance of buildings that resonate with both functionality and aesthetics. Sharing his architectural philosophy, Shah says: “As an architect, I live within my creation.” Architecture, according to Shah, must be spiritually grounded in the natural world. He also adds, “I really wish to live within my creation once... I will not be cosmetic, I will be organic”, underscoring his commitment to designing spaces that “breathe.” The built environment is a living entity, and architecture must align with nature to foster harmony and sustainability – is his guiding mantra.
