Aakar Ajwani Architects, a multidisciplinary design firm led by entrepreneur Aakar Ajwani explores holistic solutions based on the ‘form follows function’ maxim of design. The underlying philosophy of the practice is to translate their clients’ requirements and aspirations into reality; weaving a fusion of minimalism and timelessness with the rich tapestry of traditional and contemporary Indian aesthetics. This office in Indore sees the designer transform an office space into an invigorating workspace, with an aim to increase productivity.

The interior project of a 1500 sq.ft. office space for a real estate firm in Indore came with a set of client ideas and expectations; yet giving the designer freedom to experiment. The design brief called for an open-plan environment with a view to facilitate comfortable exchange of ideas between the staff and the company’s directors. The outcome is a fluid space where the staff area is only visually demarcated from the director’s desk and seamlessly merges with a lounge area beyond.

The friendly, informal vibe that the client wished to infuse in the office space was explored with the use of colours and artworks. “Our vision was to transform the traditional concept of a workspace by infusing it with an earthy vibe that enhances productivity. We aimed to integrate art inspired by the essence of the profession, drawing from various aspects of construction and real estate,” informs designer Aakar Ajwani.
