Nuru Karim, Founder & Design Principal - Nudes, works in the cross-disciplinary sphere of art, architecture, and computational design. Before getting the master’s in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association (AADRL), London, Nuru completed his undergraduate studies from KRVIA, Mumbai. Over the past two decades, Nudes has crafted its place in mixed use, education, housing, retail, art, culture, healthcare, hospitality, corporate, and religious architecture, all over India. In this tete-a-tete, the versatile designer discusses his explorations with the world of parametric design.

Founder and principal architect of Malik Architecture, Kamal Malik was born and raised in Shimla in the pristine environs of the Himalayas; and nature remains his constant source of his inspiration. In the five decades of his career, the prolific architect, a graduate of SPA, Delhi - has attempted to develop a contemporary design syntax for the Indian subcontinent, by approaching architecture as a synthesis of ‘ecology’ and ‘spirit’. While ecology speaks of a seamless, cohesive and integrated approach to design, spirit implies balance, understanding and tranquillity. Malik Architecture has designed some very prominent buildings in India; however it is Kamal Malik’s ongoing discourse with life that is a privilege to know and understand.

An architect and digital artist with a growing reputation, Manas Bhatia’s journey reflects a seamless intersection of nature, technology, and design. Now pursuing advanced studies in computational design at Columbia University’s Graduate School for Architecture, Preservation and Planning (GSAPP), Bhatia’s core interest in nature inspired technological innovations sees him explore the fascinating and new reality we now live in – generative AI. Bhatia's projects demonstrate how design can transcend the conventional boundaries of aesthetics, function, and context to engage with the world in new and unexpected ways.

With a presence in both Mumbai and London, Studio Emergence is at the forefront of redefining urban development, blending local and global perspectives to craft "architecture of the future." Spearheaded by the dynamic duo of architects Seeja Sudhakaran and Khushbu Davda, the studio’s approach is rooted in a deep love for geometry and parametric methodology. By bridging the gap between material properties, contextual parameters, and advanced digital techniques, Studio Emergence produces designs that are innovative, contextually responsive, and emotionally impactful. In this feature, we look at three diverse projects from the firm’s repertoire of work across India, with an office interior done in Dubai.

Arvind Sundar, a painter and printmaker from Coimbatore, studied art at the School of Art Institute of Chicago in 2016 and later pursued a Masters in Painting & Drawing (MFA) from University of Cincinnati, USA in 2018. Having exhibited his work in over 50 shows across the globe, Arvind Sundar is one of the most promising artists on the contemporary Indian art scene. An affinity for maths and geometry defines his art; and in his latest show COSMOS, we see him shift from painting to sculpture – exploring the same spiritual and physical connectedness to mathematical/geometrical systems in the third dimension.
