Experienced lighting design professional with over 22 years in design and project management across architecture, interiors, real estate, and lighting development - Ar. Ashish Bahal is a partner at Lucent Worldwide, one of Asia’s largest lighting design firms. Actively involved in technical advisory committees for IGBC, GRIHA, ECBC, Bahal is an expert in technical and design-based lighting applications. Here, he shares brilliant inputs on successful lighting design; illustrating his expertise through a project handled by Lucent Worldwide – the Kohler Experience Centre at Bangalore.

To promote spiritual tourism, the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board chose the Shamlaji Temple for an upgrade with a laser and sound show. Curated by industry experts Rhino Engineers, a firm led by Mr. Narendra Naidu, the beautiful exterior form of the temple comes alive using the technology of ‘3D projection mapping’. An electrical engineer with a degree in Management, Mr. Naidu has a field experience of over 41 years in MEP, AV, and Multimedia Technology. Some of his other significant projects include the world’s second largest 1.3KM length dam Light and Sound Show (Kevadiya), 10.3KM Motif and Gantry Lighting at Statue of Unity (Kevadiya), India’s first Glow Garden at Statue of Unity (Kevadiya), India’s largest area Projection Mapping on Natural Rock Surface (Ambaji), and Projection Lighting at Shri Ram Mandir (Ayodhya).

An interactive installation offered attendees a rare opportunity to explore light, colour, and sound as integrative tools for wellness and architectural transformation. Participants were invited to engage creatively, using light as both an artistic medium and a therapeutic device, while sound and colour deepened the immersive experience. The collaboration between AWA Lighting Designers, SOULSARA and The Art of Place has illuminated a path toward creating environments where science and art converge to elevate human experiences.
